The benefits of exercise might be even better for women, according to a recent study. While physical activity has been linked to a reduced risk of premature death, this study found that women needed less exercise than men to achieve the same benefits. Women who exercised for at least 150 minutes a week had a 24% lower risk of death from any cause and were 36% less likely to experience heart attacks or strokes. Men needed 300 minutes a week to achieve similar outcomes. Researchers believe the physiological differences between men and women contribute to these disparities. The study reinforces the importance of regular physical activity for good health.
