Prestigious Executive Leadership Council Adds Ameren Executive Leader as Member
Chonda Nwamu will promote Black excellence as one of the newest members of the Executive Leadership Council's Class of 2023.

Chonda Nwamu is a senior vice president, general attorney, secretary at Ameren / PR News Wire. Chonda Nwamu has been elected to the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), Class of 2023. Nwamu is an ELC member, making her one of the most successful Black professionals around the globe. The ELC was founded in 1986 and has since grown to include over 800 Black CEOs and corporate board members. It also includes senior executives at Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies as well as entrepreneurs at top-tier businesses and thought leaders. Marty Lyons (chief executive officer and president of Ameren) said that Chonda was a key player in enhancing Ameren’s enterprise-wide diversity and equity and inclusion strategy. Ameren's leadership has enabled it to implement metrics and measures to increase its purchasing volume from diverse law firms and suppliers, recruit and retain diverse lawyers and staff, and provide more opportunities for Ameren attorneys to handle Ameren cases. "I hope to use this opportunity as a chance to serve as role model and mentor for more women and diverse leaders. My passion is to use my influence to develop and promote the next generation diverse leaders in order to close the gap in representation. According to a press release, Ameren is still focused on creating a diverse culture that allows leaders such as Nwamu to thrive. More than 1,600 Ameren colleagues were engaged in over 7,000 hours of DE&I learning through the ConvERGing Learning and Action program.
