When WeightWatchers Ended In-Person Meetings, They Held Their Own

On a warm Saturday morning last September, members of a wellness group in Brooklyn gathered for their regular meeting. The members, all followers of a weight loss program, were unhappy with the company’s decision to close their in-person meetings in March 2023. They expressed feeling betrayed and like they had lost a significant support system. The company, known as WW International, had seen a decline in in-person attendance even before the pandemic. The number of workshops nationwide had decreased, with some now conducted online.
