New York City is preparing to open its first legal cannabis dispensary. Sasha Nutgent, a store manager, says that this is a unique moment for the popular state. "Despite this, our nonprofit's mission is as urgent as ever. Housing Works Cannabis Co makes itself very accessible by being located at Broadway 750 in Manhattan. Charles King, CEO of Housing Works Co., stated that "At our core we're a healing society dedicated to providing housing and healthcare for New Yorkers. We also offer vocational programs." The store will also offer a better experience for New Yorkers, which is another plus. Chris Alexander, Executive Director of the Office of Cannabis Management. He continues to state that there will be many opportunities for the community to get involved. This state joins other states that have legalized cannabis use within their borders. Every state has its own laws regarding the purchase and sale of cannabis, as well as the age requirements. Colorado, for example, allows cannabis possession to anyone over 21 years old. Washington is the same. Anyone over 21 can purchase and possess an ounce of marijuana, but they cannot grow their own plants at any time. Dispensaries have started to pop up all over Canada in the areas where they were voted in in recent years. This seems to be a fast-growing trend!
