iStar, Inc., a real estate trust, is engaged in financing, investing, developing, and managing real estate projects and other related activities. It is divided into five segments: Real Estate Finance (Real Estate Finance), Net Lease (Operating Properties), Land and Development (Land and Development), and Corporate and Other. Real Estate Finance is the segment that includes all activities related to senior, mezzanine and other real estate loans as well as real estate securities. The Net Lease segment includes the activities and operations of the company related to the ownership and leasing of properties to corporate tenants. The Operating Properties segment is primarily concerned with the company's commercial and residential properties. Land and Development refers to the portfolio of developable land that the company owns. The Corporate and Other Segment includes all corporate-level and unallocated products, joint ventures, and strategic investments. Jay Sugarman founded the company in 1993. It is based in New York.
